  1. Spoiler results! I love it!

serves those dumbasses right! That's what they get for doing three weeks worth of taping in one day. I always found this to be a pretty lazy and Bush League practice.

  2. A few thoughts:

    1) Dumbasses? You may not like Schweitzer, and that's fine, but there are a number of extremely talented and dedicated people that work on PWU, both in front of, and behind the camera. Some of those people have had very successful careers in wrestling, and nobody who works in the business would dream of calling them a "dumbass".

    2) Lazy? I can assure you that taping three shows in one day is much more difficult and stressful than taping three shows in three different weeks. It's a cost-cutting measure, pure and simple. Frankly, this is how studio wrestling used to be. Not sure if you expect PWU to do a live broadcast every week, as that's the only way to prevent those dreadful "spoilers". But they don't do that because it's expensive. Same reason Don Owen's show wasn't live (of course he didn't have the internet to worry about). Incidentally, with the exception of Raw, every WWE show is also pre-taped and you can find spoilers for those shows on the internet as well. But then again, they're a bunch of dumbasses as well. A bunch of rich, famous, successful dumbasses.

  3. 1)You are right, I don't like Schweitzer. I also do not work in the business nor have I ever claimed to have worked in the business. I am not expecting live shows on TV. I understand how much would go into that and I really don't expect it. However 3 shows in one day seems to me that they really aren't looking at it as a business but a hobby they are only willing to dedicate one weekend a month doing. When was the last time PWU went anywhere other than Milwaukie? If they want it to grow perhaps they need to take the show on the road a little bit.

Lazy. Yep, I said it and I'm sticking to it. Where is their website? Where is their marketing? Hell even their Facebook page is ran pretty poorly even since it has become the "Official Fan Page."

Don Owen's shows weren't live, but atleast he taped his show every week and atleast his story lines were carried out throughout the week in all 5 towns they had cards in that week. There may be talent behind the camera but it sure isn't running the camera. Watch an episode and everytime you can clearly see a guy calling spots take a drink. You will be drunk by the end of the hour. That is the problem with studio wrestling there isn't enough room and they do not hold enough people. I have seen no growth in this first year. All I have seen are angles that have been done to death (Grappler/Exile looks a lot like Grappler/Carl Styles circa 1989) mixed with angles that should have never been angles (the strike)followed by a scab invasion of workers who aren't exactly what I would consider TV talent. Even Piper's weekly impression of a punch drunk Rocky Balboa walking around loving everyone is beginning to lose it's charm.

  4. I agree completely with your statements about marketing and house shows. I'm no Schweitzer apologist.

But your "lazy" comment was directed at the idea of taping three shows in one day, when there is nothing remotely lazy about the process. It's penny pinching to be sure, but welcome to local TV in the year 2013. Incidentally, PWU did not invent this practice, as it's been around since the 70s or so.

Yeah, you see guys calling spots. It's because, as you noted, the show is in a small studio. And as you also note, it's a common problem with studio shows. It has nothing to do with the people working the camera, all of whom have years, if not decades, of professional experience and are not some part timers working for the local public access channel. So, I don't know what to say- sorry for doing an old-school studio wrestling show.

If you like angles or whatever, that's up to you. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Personally, I like doing angles from 25 years ago (that's how old that Styles angle was) because, to most of our audience, it's completely new. It's nostalgic for some older fans and for younger fans (a big part of PWU's audience), something of a history lesson. They never saw Santa Rip or Mike Miller stealing Bobby Jaggers belt, and I think it's cool to make nods to classic stuff. And, let's face it, it's not like PWU is the first promotion to recycle angles. Actually, the next one that doesn't will be the first. But again, that's just my take. I should also point out that there is plenty of creative stuff on PWU I don't like. That's also true of every wrestling show I ever watched. Guess I'm just a glass-half-full kinda guy.

And that's my whole point with this rant- PWU is not above criticism, just like any other promotion or TV show. Some people will like it, and some won't. I just don't get the mindset of a person who keeps watching a show they don't like and then constantly rails on it via cyberspace. Generally, when I dislike a show, I just stop watching it and do something I enjoy.

  5. I love the idea of local wrestling on local television. That is why I continue to watch. Kptv/Kpdx has given them a primo time slot and a chance yet they have chosen to do very little with it. When they first started they had a chance to really make it something great and really build a brand but Pete is so scared to spend a dollar and branch out that they will forever be exactly what they are today. There are small indie promoters out there that could have done great things with the same opportunities, instead Pete chooses to piss it away like every other project he has ever been involved in.

  6. Like I said, I'm not here to defend Pete. It's clear you have some personal animosity for the man and that has colored your every opinion about PWU. My final word is that PWU is not about Pete but the talent in front of the camera, and the people that put the show together. I think they do a great job and produce a fun show. A lot of people seem to agree, but some people don't. That is to be expected.
You can say whatever you want in response, but I'm done. I have better things to do than engage in some childish message board feud.
